DJ Equipment Speakers
Well renowned Disk Jockey gains the respect of the crowd because of their skills and mastery in manipulating and handling different type of disks as well DJ equipment speakers. But no matter how good a DJ is, if his equipment is poor, people will surely not like the sounds generated by his equipment. Skills alone are not enough. Good equipment and skills go in pairs. These are some of the equipments that a Disk Jockey uses: audio console, headphones and turntables. But let us not forget the most important equipment that a DJ must have –speakers. Speakers are devices used to convert electrical energy into sound energy. The sound would determine how replete these DJs are. There ate two types of speakers: active and passive.
Active speakers has a built-in amplifier, this devices can be directly connected to an audio console or to a source. These speakers are often called powered speakers for they have a built-in power source. Active speakers also come in pretty impressive sizes, unlike large passive speakers; active speakers can be designed small but can render the same level of audio-output.
Active speaker comes into various designs. Commonly, these speakers have: power source, an amplifier, and a woofer or tweeter which can give a realistic sound. Often times, these speakers also have a pre-amplifier which process signal prior to amplification. These speaker sounds good and better than other traditional speakers. In order for speakers to work efficiently, enough power (wattage) is needed.
Powering your speaker too high or too low can make your speaker sound distorted or low. Powered or active speakers solve this for you. Active speakers have their power set upon purchase. Active speakers are cheaper, compact and have a built-in amplifier. However, these speakers have two wires, one for power and one for signal. Since this amplifier runs with 220 volts, it’s a bit dangerous to deal with.
Passive speakers do not have a built-in speaker. This speaker needs to be connected to an amplifier and to a receiver through an audio cable. In order for passive speakers to carry, high-input signal, they should be big in size. Too much power from the source can cause this device to run bad because these devices only handle a low-wattage input. The sizes of the speakers should be parallel to the size of the sound system otherwise these speakers will not render enough sound.
Speakers are considered the soul and heart of a Disk jockey, for the sound generated by these speakers determines how exceptional a DJ is. His skills and talent on manipulating the console or mixer and the turntable shall be manifested on the sound of the speakers. Speakers are vital in a DJ set-up as important as the talent he/she posses.
